The main types of coatings currently used in cans are epoxy phenolic coatings, epoxy amino coatings, organic sol coatings, vinyl coatings, polyester coatings, acrylic coatings and epoxy ester coatings. The following is a brief introduction to the characteristics of various resins as well as the performance and use of coatings.

     · Epoxy amino paint

      Epoxy amino coating is a coating system with epoxy resin and amino resin as the main resin in a certain proportion. It is widely used as a protective coating for the outer wall of can caps, can bodies, screw caps and seal caps. Its main properties and advantages are as follows:

(1) Colorless coating film;

(2) Good chemical resistance and processing resistance;

(3) Good cooking resistance;

(4) It has good color fastness when baking again.

     The epoxy amino coating has high bactericidal resistance, especially in the strong alkaline water with a pH of about 9 ~ 10, so it is the first choice for the outer wall protection coating of the tank lid. This property is also often used in packaging latex paints. The anti-water absorption and anti-whitening properties of epoxy amino coating during cooking are much better than those of other modified epoxy products. Because of its good heat resistance, it is not easy to soften, so it is not easy to occur mechanical bruising during heat treatment.

     The epoxy amino coating has good color fastness and is not easy to yellowing when it is baked again, so it is widely used in the outer wall protection coating of the body lid, screw lid and crown lid of three beverage and food cans, especially when the baking of the last coated inner wall coating may affect the performance of the outer wall coating.

     Epoxy amino also maintains good performance when corrosive contents of cans spill and may erode the outer wall coating. Because of its excellent adhesion, it can also be used as a base coating for color printing.

     The epoxy amino coating is cured by thermal polymerization. For miscellaneous tank products, the peak temperature of 170 ~ 180° C is generally used to heat up to 10min. When high cooking and chemical resistance is required, a peak temperature of 200 ° C is required.

     Epoxy amino coatings are also often used in inner wall coatings, but they are more commonly used in lightly corrosive beverage cans, such as dairy products and juice drinks.
